Vertical gardens are a simple method of transferring plants from our surroundings onto the walls of our buildings. They can be created on both external and internal walls, in private homes, as well as in public places. They are a great way to bring greenery to the spaces closest to us, whether it’s the walls in our homes or offices.
What are green walls?
Green walls, living walls, living pictures, these are synonymous terms with the concept of vertical gardens.
How does a green wall work?
Water with nutrients flows through the pocket system and delivers the essential nutrients to the roots, keeping the plant alive.
How much does a green wall cost / How much does a square meter of a vertical garden cost?
The price depends on the system used to create the green wall and its size. It is best to contact a contractor offering vertical garden construction services using the system that seems most suitable to you and request a quote. We have representatives throughout Poland, who, besides us, offer the service of creating and servicing green walls using the Florafelt system.
How to water a green wall?
Water is delivered to the top row of pockets, from where it flows down to the lower plants. Watering can be done automatically or manually.
Where can I buy components for watering a green wall / watering a vertical garden?
All the components can be purchased at garden stores or in the online vertical gardens store.
What plants can be grown in a vertical garden?
Most plants can be used in vertical gardens. The condition is to provide them with the right light conditions and nutrient supply.
Where can vertical garden modules be used?
Vertical gardens can be created both outdoors and inside buildings. To use them indoors, it is necessary to prepare proper insulation and trays for excess water collection.
What to do if a plant is wilting?
The modules are designed for easy removal and replacement of existing objects. Simply remove the roots and replace them with fresh plant material.
How much light does a green wall need?
Plants are divided into those that don’t need much light and those that thrive in high sunlight conditions. However, all plants need light to survive. Choosing the right plants is crucial for success in any garden.
Where can I obtain plants for creating a green wall?
Plants can be found at local florists, nurseries, or garden centers. It’s best to consult with a salesperson regarding the plant’s requirements before purchase. Pay attention to the health of the purchased plants.
Do plants improve indoor air quality?
Plants, in addition to carbon dioxide, also absorb… toxins. They remove them from the air and, in return, provide valuable oxygen.
Does temperature affect the quality of modules?
Florafelt Vertical Planters are made of polyethylene. They can withstand temperatures from -40 to 220 degrees Celsius.
How to install the panels?
The installation of the panels is very simple – all you need is a level, a screwdriver, and screws. Florafelt can be easily assembled and disassembled.
Can the panels be used to grow herbs?
Yes. Herbs grow well in Florafelt, but it’s important to ensure they have adequate light and receive the necessary nutrients.
What types of modules are available?
We are the sole distributor in Poland of Plants on Walls vertical garden panels. In our offering, we have standard sizes of modules for building green walls. Thanks to the ability to cut them quickly, the panels allow for the creation of any vertical garden.
How durable are green walls?
Green walls are durable and, with proper care, can last for many years. Over time, the modules can be cleaned and repurposed.
How often should I water them?
The watering cycle varies depending on the choice of plants. Most often, watering occurs in a cycle of 30 minutes once or twice a day.
Does the green wall create too much moisture in the room?
Green walls are perfect for maintaining the desired level of humidity in the user’s environment. Additionally, they significantly improve air quality in the room. A well-made vertical garden quickly eliminates excess water, leaving moisture only around the plants.
Can you grow vegetables in the panels?
Vegetables can be grown in Florafelt panels, provided that they receive the necessary nutrients, water, and light.
Do the panels develop mold?
The modules are made of a material that dries well between watering cycles, and excess water is drained into the appropriate channels. Therefore, mold does not have the right conditions to appear.
Can panels withstand heavy rain?
Rain is not a problem for vertical gardens made from our modules, as the material they are made of dries very quickly.
Who should i consult with if i want to create a vertical garden?
We recommend consulting with a landscape architect who specializes in creating vertical gardens in our system. They will advise you on the suitable plants and how to care for them. We have installers throughout Poland.
How much does a living wall weight?
An empty wall weighs approximately 7 kg/m2. When planted and wet, it weighs 24 kg/m2.
Can I create a vertical garden in the shape of an arch?
Yes. The panels come in various sizes and can be installed in different shapes.
Can green walls be relocated?
A populated panel with 12 pockets (61 cm x 81 cm) can weigh up to 12 kg, making it very easy to move.
Can plants be changed or moved?
Yes, plants can be easily moved and replaced.
Is the material used for the modules harmful to children and pets?
The panels are not toxic, but it is advisable to place them out of the reach of children and pets due to the potential for mechanical damage to the plants.
How far do the plants protrude from the green wall?
It depends on the type of plants you choose. The construction itself is around 6 cm. With plants, on average, you can assume it’s about 15 cm. However, the entire wall with the installation can be approximately 25-40 cm deep.
What is the difference between a vertical garden made of felt materials and plastic or steel modules?
Solutions based on so-called felt materials allow for creating a unique environment for plants where they can thrive and function freely for many years. One of the goals of Patrick Blanc, the creator of vertical gardens, was to provide plants with an environment as close as possible to their natural habitat. While this isn’t entirely achievable, felt, as the foundation for root development (serving as a substrate), is best suited for this purpose.
This is evident in the largest and longest-running vertical garden installations worldwide. Most of them are made using felt or pocket solutions.
In contrast to plastic, felt materials allow the plant to grow freely for many years, enabling the roots to breathe and find new spaces for expansion without hindrance. This eliminates the need to repot plants when they outgrow their containers, as can happen in traditional potted arrangements. Felt solutions typically contain a small amount of soil that also breathes and doesn’t become waterlogged.
